Breed info

Our intention is:

To breed Border Collies who are healthy, have a good temperament, have workability and also looks good.

We are striving for quality not quantity.

When we have pups:
All our pups grow up inside our house so they learn about the things that happened there. And we put them through anything we can think of. As loud noise, dropping things, a lot of different toys, different places inside and outside the house. They will also learn to be with our other dogs. They teach the pups how to behave to older dogs. After 6 weeks we start to put them in the car, so they are familiar to that. It sounds of a lot of things, but we don't do it all in one time. We take one step at the time. So when the pups are used to one thing, then we move on to the next.
When the pups are 6-7 weeks old, they get their first vaccine and their first check by our vet. After the check our vet will write a health certificate on every pup and they will be chipped.
We will also have their eyes checked of CEA before 8 weeks of an approved vet of the Danish Kennel Club.

What we expect of people:
We are aware of that not every family have sheep. But they have to give a Border Collie work. Whether it is herding, agility, obedience, search and rescue, track or just learning different tricks at home. We can see in the litters we have had, that only a few of the pups are satisfied just to be near the family. The rest wants to work in a higher or lower level. So therefore it is very important to us that people know as much as possible about the Border Collie before they get one and will be prepared to give the puppy "work" so it will develop into a harmonic dog who is pleasure to have around you. And remember it is a commitment as long as the dog lives !!!
The Border Collie isn't one of the easiest dogs to have - but if you for fill the dog's need of activity, you get the most precious gift of all for free. The Worlds most wonderful family dog.

We do not sell our puppies after only 2 lines of inquiries in a mail. You have to convince us that you are willing to make this serious commitment it is to have a puppy and turning it into a wonderful dog, so we can see that is not just an impulse you have. We don't believe in dogs changing homes several times, then the dog might loose faith/trust in us humans. And that is the worst thing that could ever happen. To us our puppies are not just things you can trade, but living creatures who deserves the best from the very start. And we take for granted that new owners to our puppies will keep contact with us. We will help all we can if needed, but we also love to hear how it is going as the puppies grow and when they are grown ups.

We do not export our puppies unless we know people really well after a long time of corresponding.

We also have to write this, which we have learned through the years with dogs:

*Good* dog-owners can make the best out of every puppy and *bad* dog-owners can destroy even the best !!! It is very rare that there is something wrong with the dog. (In any breed). Please remember this before you judge any dogs!!! Normally it is the person who owns the dog who have made the mistakes as dogs in general adjust its family in both good and bad things!!!

Advices:
Visit different breeders. But be sure that the breeder register the puppies. Then you have more guaranties that the breeder has done everything possible to get sound and healthy puppies and he or she knows the background of the parents. There are many types of Border Collies. I personally love that it is allowed the border collie to be so different in types.

Be honest about both good and bad things about yourself. And what you want to do with the puppy. So the breeder have a chance of finding the puppy who fits you the most.

When you find the breeder to your puppy. Be prepared to wait !!! It is so important for both the future owner and breeder to have a good relationship. A responsible breeder will always help you !!!

Remember you have to love both parents of the puppy as they give 50% each to your puppy. And no matter how many guaranties are given, you can't be 100% sure. Puppies are living creatures and mother nature always wins no matter what...

Talk to people who already own a Border Collie. And listened to what they have to say about their experience with the breed. Still use your own judgement and common sense, as there are as many opinions as there are people.

Ask any question you may have !!! There are no stupid questions.... (Only stupid answers).

Please take time to read this link about puppies written by the famous Turid Rugaas. It is in Norwegian. It certainly put a lot of things in to perspective.

If you are still sure of getting a Border Collie, we wish you the best of luck and may you have lots of fun and many great years with your dog !!! Just like we have with our "kids".
